Wearable devices are expected to be a $6 billion business in just three years. Led by Google Glass, the category will also include smartwatches which most of the major device manufacturers are expected to produce. From Apple, Google, Samsung, LG and Microsoft, these major manufacturers have either announced that they are building a smartwatch, or are rumored to be doing so.
Every one in the industry is waiting to see what Apple will do with what the media has dubbed the Apple iWatch. Back in February, a patent application filed by Apple revealed a device that uses a slap bracelet to fasten around your wrist. Kinetic energy would power the watch which would use the 5 GHz 802.11n protocol to provide streaming video.
Now, we have a really sweet looking concept of the Apple iWatch showing Apple Maps integration. Designer Martin Hajek has done a real nice job with the iWatch and we will give this the highest praise that a concept could earn: we wouldn't mind at all if the Apple iWatch turned out looking like this.
