Back in March, we heard about an upcoming Huawei flagship that – if the rumors were true – would take the top spot as the world’s thinnest smartphone. We had heard similar rumors earlier in the year which ended up missing the mark, so we didn’t give it an overabundance of attention. Since then, more evidence has arrived showing-off a 6.2-millimeter thick handset going by model P6-U06. Today, a number of renders of handset have finally arrived, revealed as the Huawei Ascend P6.
As you can see above, that is one seriously thin smartphone. Additional renders of the P6 let us that the phone should also arrive in white and pink, and there’s already some confirmation that this could be official, with one Huawei exec appearing to post to Weibo (now deleted), admitting that this is a future P-series model from his company, and claiming it will launch June 18 in London.
Early specs suggested a 1080p screen, but the most recent info points to a 4.7-inch 720p component, instead.
We know, thinner doesn’t mean “better,” and we’d take a sturdily built model with a decent battery capacity over one putting looks ahead of all else any day, but this is still an important achievement that shouldn’t be quite so readily dismissed. The six-millimeter mark is in sight!
