It looks like Samsung is trying to get serious about cameras on their smartphones now. We all know that Samsung’s next major flagship is going to be the Galaxy Note 3. But we don’t know if that’s what they’ll be announcing on June 20th in London , or if they have something else up their sleeves.

The latest rumor is that the Galaxy Note 3 will have a 13MP camera. Okay, that kinda goes without saying right? Since the Galaxy S4 has a 13MP camera, I’d expect the Galaxy Note 3 to have at least a 13MP camera. We are also hearing that the Galaxy Note 3 is going to have Optical Image Stabilization, which is also known as OIS. It might also have some other enhancements for taking pictures. Samsung has been reported as trying to include optical zoom as well. But it seems that they are having problems keeping the device thin with optical zoom. So that might get nixed.

The Galaxy Note line might be a little more successful than the Galaxy S line. I’ve actually seen more people with the Note than a Galaxy S device. Maybe it’s the size? Or the battery life? Well whatever it is, Samsung has hit a home run with the Galaxy Note when they released it in 2011. And it’s been gaining more and more attention ever since. Of course, releasing the Note 2 on 5 major US carriers certainly helped gain plenty of attention. I’m expecting it to come out this fall and be available on at least 5 US carriers at launch. The Galaxy S4 will be on 7 within months of its launch. So let’s see what the Galaxy Note 3 can do.
